As part of the IBIOLI 2017 Activity Series, Dr. Siobhán Jordan will present a lecture titled "Biotechnology and Creativity - Reflections on Multidisciplinary Degrees". The role of universities in innovation and entrepreneurship education is three-fold; develop and support students and graduates to be entrepreneurs; support and encourage them to be intra-preneurs when they work within someone else’s organisation; support University staff to be entrepreneurial in the application of their research.
About the Lecture:
Since graduating from DCU in 1989, Siobhán Jordan has drawn on the fundamental principles of the multidisciplinary biotechnology degree to hold a range of roles in all three areas. She will outline how the academic / industry teaching has supported impactful international research programmes generating peer reviewed publications and attracting significant funding, managing a proof of concept investment programme in key technologies and academic research to enable spin-out companies and establishing a not for profit organisation to enable thousands of businesses to tap into world leading research and expertise in Scottish Universities.
