Bealtaine Birds Dawn Chorus Walk

The first walk of the 2015 Burren in Bloom festival and the May Burrenbeo walk will involve an early start with Gordon D’Arcy leading a group on a dawn chorus walk. Gordon is a Burren resident, natural historian, author & wildlife artist and will point out some of the Burren’s birds in the early morning light – they’ll hopefully put on a good show.

Guided by Harry Jeuken, the landowner at Lough Avalla, who and has a wealth of knowledge of the holy wells, the winterage, and the story of the local land.

Environmental & Field Biology Course – Golden Jubilee Celebrations

As part of the celebration of its Golden Jubilee the IBIOLI invites its members, families, friends and general public to Inis Meáin (Inishmaan), Aran for an Environmental and Field Biology Course. The Course will be facilitated by Institute of Biology of Ireland member Dr Con O’Rourke (Ex Teagasc). This course, involving a blend of Gaeilge and English, will be conducted in the outdoor natural environment taking in various sites of historical, geological, cultural, natural science and general environmental interests.

Glasnevin Cemetery & Museum, & National Botanic Gardens – Golden Jubilee Celebrations

As part of the celebrations of the Golden Jubilee Year of the IBIOLI, the Institute is organising a number of special events this year. The first of these is a dual event to Glasnevin Cemetery and Museum, and the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin. The Institute invites members, their families and friends, for this double event in Dublin, and gives an opportunity for members to get together in the beautiful surroundings of the National Botanic Gardens. You may opt for one or both of the guided tours.
